THE BUREAU DE LA SÉCURITÉ PRIVÉE WILL CONTINUE THE ISSUANCE AND RENEWAL OF THE TEMPORARY LICENCE FOR SECURITY GUARDING (PANDEMIC) IN ITS CURRENT FORM UNTIL DECEMBER 31, 2021.

AS OF JANUARY 1, 2022, THE BUREAU DE LA SÉCURITÉ PRIVÉE  WILL RESTRICT THE ISSUANCE OF A TEMPORARY LICENCE FOR SECURITY GUARDING (PANDEMIC)  SPECIFICALLY FOR ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED IN TARGETED FACILITIES

Montreal, October 29, 2021 - The Bureau de la sécurité privée (the "BSP") announces that it will maintain the issuance and renewal of the temporary licence for security guarding (pandemic) in its current form until December 31, 2021. After this date, the holder of such licence will still be able to pursue private security activities until the end of the validity of their licence.

The issuance of a temporary pandemic licence is restricted to targeted facilities

Effective January 1, 2022, the issuance of a temporary (pandemic) licence will be authorized only for activities conducted in the following establishments in order to assist the government in its fight against the pandemic:

  • Covid-19 Testing Clinics
  • Vaccination clinics for covid-19
  • Hospital centres
  • Local community services centres (CLSC)
  • Residential and long-term care centres (CHSLD)
  • Intermediate resources (IR)
  • Private seniors’ residence (PSR)

Specifics of the temporary pandemic permit as of January 1, 2022

No renewal of the temporary licence in security guarding (pandemic) in its current form will be permitted as of January 1, 2022 because of the restricted criterion aimed at the exclusivity of the targeted establishments. Nevertheless, the holder of such licence will be able to continue his private security activities until the end of the validity of his licence. Any person wishing to obtain a temporary licence for security guarding (pandemic) to carry out an activity in one of the targeted establishments will have to proceed to a new application for a temporary pandemic licence.

We invite current temporary licence holders (pandemic) to read our upcoming communications to learn about the specific process that will apply to their application for this new restricted license.

Please note that as of January 1, 2022, any applicant who applies for a new temporary licence for security guarding (pandemic) and is accepted by the BSP will receive a laminated licence by mail.
