Montreal, December 23, 2021, - Considering the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic situation in Quebec, the Bureau de la sécurité privée (the "BSP") announces that it will maintain the issuance and renewal of the security guard temporary licence (pandemic) and this, for the sole purpose of carrying out a private security activity related to the management of the pandemic or its immediate consequences.
TEMPORARY PANDEMIC SECURITY GUARD LICENCE
Beginning in 2022, the issuance and renewal of a temporary pandemic permit shall be for the purpose of conducting private security guarding activity in the following locations:
- Covid-19 Testing Clinic;
- Vaccination clinic for covid-19
- Hospital center;
- Local community services center (CLSC);
- Residential and long-term care center (CHSLD);
- Intermediate Resource (IR);
- Private seniors’ residence (PSR);
And any other sector of activity that requires temporary private security workforce needs related to the management of the pandemic or its immediate consequences.
Reception of the temporary security guard licence (pandemic) by mail
As of January 2022, if such a licence is issued by the BSP, the licence holder will receive a laminated licence in the mail. The validity of a BSP licence can be viewed in the Register of Licence Holders. A fee for printing the temporary pandemic licence will be applicable and will be charged according to the agent licence rates in effect as of January 2022. It is important to note that the applicant will not be able to work in the private security field until they have received confirmation of the validity of their BSP licence.
Apply for a temporary security guard licence (pandemic)
A new application form for a Temporary Security Guard Licence (Pandemic) will be available in early January 2022. Applicants will have the option of completing the application online at the "Apply Online" section of bspquebec.ca - for faster processing - or completing the paper form, mailing it in or dropping it off at the BSP reception desk, while respecting the health guidelines in effect.
