PILOT PROJECT FOR TEMPORAY AGENT LICENCE IN LOCKSMITHING
The objectives of the pilot project are to:
- Provide a concrete solution to the recruitment issues of new locksmith agents, namely the current training length, which is 10 to 12 months on a full-time basis to obtain a DVS in locksmithing;
- Enable the industry to train the next generation and raise awareness of the locksmith industry in Quebec among workers seeking employment;
- Evaluate a new way to access the locksmith industry.
What is the pilot project?
- As an enterprise with a locksmith agency licence, you will be able to recruit workers who do not yet have the necessary training to practice locksmith activities if you are willing to train them while they learn;
- These new workers will hold a temporary locksmith agent licence, which will enable them to develop their skills in action;
- When ready, the participants will be able to apply for recognition of acquired competencies (‘’RAC") at a school service centre offering this possibility, to eventually obtain a DVS in locksmithing.
Interested ?
- We invite you to read APPENDIX A which details the process of the RAC-SER pilot project.
- Complete and return APPENDIX C to the Bureau de la sécurité privée (''BSP'') by mail or email to RAC-SER@bpsquebec.ca
- Once you receive confirmation of your participation in the pilot project, you will be able to start your recruitment process.
For your candidates:
Before being able to carry on any locksmith activities, your candidates must obtain their temporary licence. To do this, they must submit an application for a RAC-SER temporary locksmith agent licence with the BSP by completing the specific pilot project form:
TEMPORARY AGENT LICENCE APPLICATION RAC-SER
The validity of the licence cannot exceed 120 days. Throughout their training and before their temporary licence expire, licence holders must renew their temporary licence by completing the renewal form specific to the pilot project.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
The BSP cannot guarantee that the temporary licences issued to participants in the RAC-SER pilot project will lead to their DVS in locksmithing.
As a result, a participant may not be able to obtain a licence as a regular locksmith agent at the end of the pilot project. Any enterprises and individual agreeing to participate in the Pilot project RAC-SER must accept this risk and exempt the Bureau from any liability in this regard.
